Give yourself a break

We all need to give ourselves a break.

From the high demands, from the chaos, from our own expectations we place on ourselves.

For some, that means stepping away. For a little while, for a long while, or forever. For others it could mean a stroll in the park. It could mean a quick weekend getaway. Or a staycation. A night in, doing nothing. Just being.

Over the last few weeks, I took that much needed break. I stopped blogging. And I pulled the reigns way back on social media. You may have noticed me MIA. But I needed to step back for a while. I needed to clear my head.

I was starting to feel like blogging became a chore, and I really didn’t want that.

I wanted my messages to come straight from my heart. Every single time. And for the few weeks I didn’t write, I prayed. I wanted to know that what I was doing, was really helping people. And during that time away, I kept feeling that tug in my soul. Pulling at me stronger and stronger. Confirming that this is my calling, my purpose.

sometimes it takes an overwhelming breakdown, to have an undeniable breakthrough.

I love writing. I get joy from putting my heart and soul into the words I write. I put them there to inspire you, to shape you, to help in any way that I possibly can.

But for a little while, I let the expectations be too overbearing. It wasn’t fun for me to open my laptop and type away for hours on end. So I needed that break to understand exactly what it is I’m after.

To refocus. To gain clarity.

And with that break, I found it. What I truly want. What I desire in life. And that is to be a part of your story.

I want to help you understand that no matter where you came from, no matter where you’re at now, no matter what obstacles you face, that you know that you can re-write your story. That you can stop doing what you don’t like. That you can create the life you so desperately desire.

I want to be a part of that transformation. I want to help you see that in your life.

The whole point of my blog is for that underlying goal. To inspire you to just be better. Every. Single. Day.

And I know I can inspire you all day long, but when the transformation really happens, is when YOU show up.

When you also trust the process. When you understand that you cannot do this on your own. You need to have the help of those around you, but most importantly, you need the help from the big man up stairs. So pray. Ask for help.

In their hearts, humans
plan their course,
but the Lord establishes their steps. Proverbs 16:9 NIV

Because He desperately wants you to live.

You were put here for a reason. Your life has a purpose. You have a story to share. You are still breathing. Right now. Your blood is still pumping through your body. Right now. Don’t wait another day to start living.

So take that break if you need it. Pray. Get clarity.

What is it that you’re truly after? What does your heart desire? What is that little whisper in your soul telling you to go do?

Just decide. Take the step today. Trust that God has your back. If no one else around you is in your corner, know that I am. I will always be your cheerleader. I will kick your butt into gear and also be a shoulder you can lean on. I will support you no matter what.

And when it starts to feel like too much…take a break. Pray. Give yourself 5 minutes. A week. Whatever it is. Give yourself some grace. You don’t have to have it all figured out now. But you do have to start.

Right now.

Pray this prayer with me.

USE ME, GOD. SHOW ME HOW TO TAKE who I am, who I want to be, and what I can do, and use it for a purpose greater than myself. amen.

Love and gaining clarity,
